About Glow & Grow

A safe place to begin, learn, and try.

Glow & Grow is a student-led community program starting in Orange County for teen girls who want a warm place to learn beauty basics, build confidence, and express themselves.

The program is especially mindful of students navigating new schools, new cultures, or unfamiliar beauty standards, while remaining open to anyone who respects the space. The goal is not to teach one correct look. The goal is to help each participant feel respected, learn practical skills, meet supportive peers, and become more comfortable trying new things.

Makeup Guide

Beginner workshop steps

01

Prep

Wash hands, tie hair back, moisturize, and start with clean tools.

02

Concealer

Use a small amount only where needed. Blend gently and build slowly.

03

Foundation

Optional. Keep it light and use a sponge or brush with clean technique.

04

Contour

Use soft placement and blend well. The goal is dimension, not sharp lines.

05

Eyes

Start with simple shadow, then optional eyeliner if it feels comfortable.

06

Color

Add blush and lip color with clean, individual tools. Skip any step anytime.

Workshop hygiene: Do not share personal brushes, eye products, lip tools, sponges, or anything that touches skin directly.

Brush Care Guide

Keep tools clean and comfortable.

After each workshop

Wipe handles, let brushes air out, and keep used sponges separate until washed.

Weekly wash

Use gentle soap, rinse until water runs clear, and avoid soaking the handle.

Dry flat

Lay brushes flat on a clean towel with bristles hanging slightly over the edge.

Replace when needed

Replace sponges that tear, smell different, or no longer rinse clean.

Product Recommendations

Simple, safe, and beginner-friendly.

The first version of this section focuses on product selection principles instead of fixed brand lists, so the page can stay useful as budgets, skin needs, and availability change. Products from different regions can all be considered when they are safe, clearly labeled, and appropriate for beginners.

  • Choose sealed products from trusted retailers.
  • Look for clear ingredient labels and shade names.
  • Start with fewer items: moisturizer, concealer, blush, lip color, and basic eye shadow.
  • Compare techniques for different facial features and everyday school settings without treating any single style as the standard.
  • Use disposable applicators for shared demonstrations.
  • Stop using any product that causes burning, swelling, or strong discomfort.
